Living with the next generation athletes (and their manager)

I never thought she would do it, but Aya, today, showed me that she can not only climb over the KidCo gates, which is 30 inches tall, she also showed us proudly that she can climb over Summer Infant extra tall baby gate, which is 36 inches tall. She is not yet 2 years old. The fact that Aya can do it means that Koto can soon do the same.

All day today, they enjoyed the feeling of liberation. The "thing" which used to block them from reaching to legos, pens, scissors, and this funny metal thing, to which their mom and dad, and sometimes brothers, tap their fingers onto and get moving pictures (ANA computers), are suddenly within reach. Whenever they climb over the gates, mom says "No no!" but does that mean "On on!" ??? Mom, you are spelling back words.

And why do you seem so disappointed and worried, mom? Is it because you spent days and night, putting total of 18 panels of configure gates, two elongates with extensions, and five doorway gates, but we are climbing over all of them? But mom,,, we are not falling! We just wanted to show you how athletic we are! See, see?? Don't worry! We will be OK (but your computer may not be,,,. We love pretending to be typing to it.)

We have so many questions to you though. Why did you start putting our sleep sacks backward? You took away our favorite activity, stripping ourselves naked and peeing in the cribs! Not fair,,,,. Also,,, I heard some noise while we were napping today. I suspect that you replaced the buckles of the stroller, thinking Aya can no longer unbuckle it. Well,,, let her try it tomorrow, and see if she indeed cannot unbuckle it. (But they don't know that mom also sawed the strings just above the buckles, so I can even tie their shoulder straps, hoping that Aya cannot escape.)

Well,,, although we cannot quite talk clearly yet, we can do so many things! We know that you still have not yet been able to replace the buckles of the car seats, right? Ha, ha, ha. I knew it because you let us play with the new buckles today. That means you still need to twist the car seat belts, and buckle it up for Aya, so she will not push down the chest buckle and squeeze out of the car seat, but then you will have to leave Koto and Naoto inside the gate in side the house, but hey,,, I (Koto) can get out of the KidCo gate, remember? That is why you found me sitting on top of your lap top and eating rice crackers the other day, while you were buckling up Aya to the car seat, who demonstrated great struggle.

And you still have to tie Koto's car seat buckle with Japanese Furoshiki cloth (big square piece of fabric), make knots around the buckle, and give her a long lecture that it is not safe to unbuckle it while driving. For that part, I (Koto) started to understand it a little better. See, I am listening to at least one order that you gave me!

But watch out for Naoto. He seems so innocent and harmless, he also silently unbuckles car seat buckle when you were scolding Koto. He is sneaky,,,,.

------

But they still do not know that mom is going to replace some gates to even higher ones, now,,, to 42 inches tall.

Now, I call Aya and Koto the next generation athletes, and Naoto, who loves taking care of others, will be their manager.
